[canon av-1]

landscapes of wind turbines. the school bus, heading to which school? the palmy main road
of palm springs. trucks, trucks, trucks. watch from a bus. read in a bus. mc d
onald's in the
middle of nowhere. fresh jerky made by all animals you can imagine. a
lligator tasted like
fish. aleksander resting his head on the shoulder. and then it was p
hoenix, the rain.
thunderstorm in the desert, that was our destiny.

so that was the desert. is the desert. desert, but not deserted. while travelling along the
interstate it is impossible to ignore the human presence everywhere. traces of fellow beings
in everything. the lonely home with a car and a fence. the signs popping up from
nowhere.
the undying power lines, stretched out mile after mile. tires and bumpers
spread out
along the road. crosses with fresh flowers on.

- hmm interesting, it is houses but it does not look like houses, said wakiko when we

passed a mobile home park. a lot of people do live in the desert. dwell there. now it feels

obvious, but my notion of the desert did not include people, before i actually travelled
through the sonoran one. my earlier conviction about the desert included less people,
but
also less landscape. actually, it included only sandscape.
