less analog and more personal than often.
inspired by anna i collected some stories from the year that passed.

january - returning to oslo after swedish christmas. ski trip with the tjäder family in a snowy
sweden. the fascination for power lines starts. an italian guest teaches us the art of real
lasagna. and albin, the dear sailor brother, comes to oslo with a tanker.

february - sister agnes wins swedish curling championship, and sister ulle cuts off all her hair.
the winter is fantastic with naomi outside the house of mr king. i'm spending a lot of time
in the studio and have a few early breakfasts with sara. i'm from barcelona plays with the
symphony orchestra in jönköping.

march - more and more waffles appear in our new norwegian lifestyles. gothenburg friends
visit our lives and living rooms, and i visit them when while jonas runs the 'vasalopp'.
albin is still coming back to the oslo harbour every now and then.

april - epic april. los angeles, arizona, deserts, arcosanti, grand canyon, tucson, las vegas.
a remarkable journey with friends and teachers from the studio. then a short visit to elly in
san fransisco. plus fantastic easter days with dad in new york. wow.

may - the yearly popadelica festival in huskvarna. i'm from barcelona throws a lot of confetti.
jonas and sara's birthdays are celebrated with picnic and boule. us swedes are doing our best
to celebrate the 17th of may. in stockholm we brace a coming wedding.

june - school in oslo ends with an exhibition and a long evening by the sea in tönsberg.
sister annelie is a blue bird at the stockholm opera. martina and jens say yes. we go back to
norway to fire away the midsummer's night. sara and emil move into a new apartment,
where we spend the last trembling hours with our studio friends.

july - we move back to sweden after two norwegian years. swedish summer starts with
thirteen girls on the rocks of the west coast. we visit catha in the deep forests of småland.
dad teach me, ursula and amanda to paint boat houses with tar and coal, on the island of
our childhood. mum cooks summery soups in stångby. almost the whole family goes sailing.

august - driving south with sara, eating ice cream and smoked fish. arrive at a småland
wedding where simon and sofie becomes husband and wife. reunion and a long lively
summer night. anna and johan show us the neverending moss. we find mushrooms outside
the cabin by the lake.

september - caroline and shawn becomes the westcotts, and the last wedding of the year is
over. i become a stockholmer again and start in a new concrete school (in a double sense).
i reunite with a few long lost class mates, but also spend some work days with naomi and
the cat. annelie shows me her dancing stockholm and sofia often drops by in the new little
home of mine.

october - first of october is still summer in the archipelago. youngest sister transforms
into a ballerina. i return to oslo and the aching oslo heart awakes again. at the same time
little t is born and i'm suddenly an auntie! sofia works a lot but we spend some time in hökis
when i do not go to jonas and gothenburg and hours of cooking.

november - three days in malmö and lund with the studio. a month of constant colds for
both me and jonas. he decides to be ill in stockholm and we do the curing together. all saints
day is spent at the woodland cemetary. i meet emil and sara in copenhagen for a special
exhibition opening. gothenburg is struck by storms and we kiss in the winds by the coast.

december - baking an incredible amount of crispbread with family and friends at the island.
i return to oslo again to applaud jonas and the other europan nominees. completing the
project in school and then enjoy a 12 degrees non-winter-leave. little t grows in grandma's
arms and finally i wish you a happy new year from the tops of stockholm. now i'm pausing
school to have a little spring in gothenburg...

fermented herring.
a traditional dish from northern sweden, famous for it's odour.
many people open the cans outside, but not per and linda.
they open them in a plastic bag, as the trained surströmming-eaters they are.
we ate on their balcony.
bread, butter, potatoes. red onion, hard cheese, tomatoes. herring on top.
my second attempt in life to eat this dish.
i started off warily, small pinches of fish that could barely be seen.
i ended up gloriously, one whole herring on each piece of bread.
the thrill, the chill, the beer and schnapps.
evert taube sang hoarse songs from the stereo.
there is no going back now - once a year is maybe not enough.

we spent the last days of summer alone in this little house. it was once an administrative
building at the large match industry in jönköping. it was then taken down and built up
again in the forest by the brown lake. now it hosts no remains of administration, but of
summery days from the past. i love to stay here for a little while. it is like living in the
memory of someone dear. cooking with the same things as they used to do. wearing the
same bath robes, the same shoes. sharing the same view from the hammock.

i was in new york. in april. me and my father met there. he travelled from sweden, i from
los angeles and arizona. i never published the pictures from those grand days. now it might

i look out and wonder why they do it. why they decide to leave the shore and spend the

ljudet på natten när allt annat tystnar. kören av flygfän som surrar från skogens mörker,
ackompanjerade av en ensam syrsa, ett får på avstånd, vågornas kämpande. himlen när
det mörknat. någon enstaka stjärna och ett rosa band. fragment av moln, vi vet inte om det
ljusa eller mörka är himmelen. kanske badar vi, simmar genom en svart men speglande yta.
vi ser ljuset från månen och den enda stjärnan. kropparna ser ingenting under vattnets
krusning. de är omslutna av den mörka, kalla världen som vi kallar hav.

the sounds of the night when the day turn silent. a chorus of insects from the shades of
the forest. accompanied by a lonely cricket, a sheep far away, the struggling waves. the
sky when the night has fallen. a solitary star, a pink gradient close to the water. clouds
in fragments, we do not know whether the light or the dark is the sky. maybe we take a
swim. our strokes, cutting the dark and mirroring surface. we see the islands from the
light of the moon, and that lonely star. our bodies see nothing under the face of the water.
embedded by the dark, cold world that we call the sea.

en kväll fick jag vakta ett spö med en krok och en mask, som visade sig gillas av en abborre.
vi lade den i en röd hink av plast där den sakta förlorade den sin färg. de friska små simtagen
blev långsammare. till slut fick den simma hem igen, med ett nytt hål i läppen. det är svårt
att vänja sig vid att döda små djur. till och med dom som surrar vid läggdags och biter i
skinnet. när man tittar riktigt nära ser man ju hur dom tvättar sig.

one night i accidentally catched a bass. we put it in a red bucket, where it gradually lost
it's deep green colour. the lively little fins eventually moved slower. in the end we let it
free again, with a new piercing in his lip. it is hard to get used to killing small animals. even
the ones that buzz in my ears and bit my skin. looking closely one can even see how they
wash themselves.

vi fann lä bakom en egen kobbe, namnet var nog boskapsö.

han har bra blåbärsskogar, den där bonden som mamma gick och gifte sig med.
ibland går han och kompisbönderna och plockar kottar.
jag antar att det är för att det inte ska bli för tätt mellan träden.
men kanske är dom bara förtjusta i kottar.
själv är jag är väldigt förtjust i den där markväxten som växer i våningar.

i mitten av juli lämnade vi ön för denna sommar.
styrde stegen mot uppländska gårdar i dimma.
sen kom solen och med den somriga soppor, femkamp och krocket i solnedgång.

klär jäntor i särkar och försöker skrämmas.

i djuphamn fick husen ny färg. med faluröda, oljesvarta och tjärbruna penslar målades båthus,
sjöbodar och dass. radion sprakade. amanda skrek åt spindlar och ursula klev i färgburken.
jag målade sakta. skepparna bjöd på kaffe och bondkakor. ibland cyklade pappa förbi i ett
moln av damm. dagarna flöt in i varandra. och vi flöt in i den sedvanliga rytmen på ön.
maten som serveras på bestämda tider, båtarna som kommer och åker med nya scouter.
traktorerna, fåren, bastubadet innan vi somnar.

outhouses and bouthouses needed new colours. the radio talked about summer and money.
amanda was scared of spiders and ursula stepped in the paint bottle. i painted slowly.
the skippers brew us coffee. sometimes daddy came biking on the dirt road, a little cloud of
dust following his wheels. we adjusted to the rhytm of the island. the food that was served
the same times every day. the boats that came and went with new scouts onboard. the tractors,
the sheep, the sauna before sleep.

egentligen är det inte vår ö, men visan lyder 'vässarö våran ö, vässarö'.
det är inte ens pappas ö.
men han jobbar här, på scouternas ö, där vi har tillbringat våra somrar.
med fujican under armen for jag dit med kära systrar två.
pappa tog med oss till gattet, verkstaden i ladan.
där lärde han oss att göra tjäran mörkare.
vi fann kolbitar i en ivarspis, plankbitar i ett bortglömt hörn.
vi malde och rörde och malde och rörde.
till slut fick vi till den perfekta svärtan.

en ny kamera har dykt upp här i sidobannern. nu ska jag berätta lite om den. min vän ylva
gav mig en tung, tung påse. i den bodde hennes gamla fujica st801. så fin. lite kantstött och
med färgglada siffror på objektivet. jag har flätat den ett band av skinn och nu känns den
som bara min. fujican är ganska lik gamle canon, men kan lyckligtvis vara helmanuell. canon
bestämmer alltid tiden själv. det var allt kameranörderi för idag. tack ylva.

a new camera has made its' way into the side bar. i am now going to introduce you to it.
my friend ylva gave me a heavy package with her old fujica st801. it is a little chipped and
has colorful numbers on the lens. very likable. i have braided a strap of leather and now it
feels like it is mine. the fujica is similar to my old canon, but can be totally manual. canon
has an automatic shutter speed. that was all camera talk for today. thanks ylva.
